Oulton Park Rounds 3 and 4 2002

Rob suffered huge disappointment over the weekend for rounds 3 and 4 of the BTCC at the Oulton Park circuit in Cheshire.

Rob suffered huge disappointment over the weekend for The first practice session was going well, but during the second the Clio suspension failed putting the car off at the Cascades bend which packed a considerable amount of gravel into the engine and wheels. The team worked solidly for two hours in order to get the car running in time for the first qualifying session. They removed all the gravel caught up in the car and repaired damage to the front bumper, only to succumb to a mechanical failure as he exited the pit lane.

Rob suffered huge disappointment over the weekend for “It has been a very disappointing day. The car was showing lots of promise in free practice until the suspension failed when we were second quickest, the team did a great job to get us ready for qualifying, unfortunately unforseen damage caused the car to stop on the first lap of qualifying. It is very disappointing to be starting both races from the back of the grid”

The team worked all through the night to correct the mechanical failure, but on the approach to the grid the Clio suffered massive engine failure which meant Rob was unable to feature in either round 3 or 4 of the championship.
