Silverstone Testing March 2002

Thursday March 14th at Silverstone saw the Collard Racing Renault Clio make it's first testing appearance of the year along with it's class rivals.

The day was bitterly cold, but dry and it was a while before the track became smoother after being very gritty to begin with. The team completed several laps on the test day, mainly concentrating on developing the West Surrey Racing built Clio and Collard Racing came away pleased that they had provided some good results during the day and had identified more key areas for improvement.

Car 51 did suffer a small oil leak during the test, but the team were satisfied by progress and that the car set a good pace without being pushed to the limit. Rob Collard and his crew are expected to appear at the combined TOCA Media Day and Test Day at Brands Hatch on Tuesday 19th March, where they hope to get more consistent running in the car, in a bid to improve reliability and find the best setup for the opening rounds of the 2002 MSA British Touring Car Championship at the same track on Easter weekend.

The Renault Clio will stay in it's now familiar black and yellow livery and is expected to be fitted with the 2002 style bodykit, which consists of a new front end, to bring it in line with the model now in the showrooms and racing in the one make Clio Cup series.
